We went to a butterfly exhibit at the High Desert Museum. The butterfly
house was warm and humid - a good place to be in the cold, snowy weather.

Went in to the press box to set up for the game tomorrow and it was infested
with flies... AHHH!!! This was AFTER we opened most of the windows and half
of the flies had left... but still gross :-P

EEEEWW! I pulled an engorged tick out from behind Annie's ear today. Its
probably been feeding on my baby for over a week, since our hikes! Even
though the flash reflected off the tweezers, I liked this pic cuz you can
see the tick's pincers! YUCK!

Joe has learned to indulge my Photostate habit. We were planting raspberry
bushes today. He dug up this worm and made sure I got a picture of it.

Spent today geocaching around Sedona in the rain. I pulled a cache out of
its hiding spot and found two little baby Collared Lizards hiding behind it.
Can you see them? Totally cute. They stayed completely still and just
stared at us while we took our photos and carefully replaced the cache
without bothering them. Fun surprise. :)

Walking in the park today, I saw this little Wooly Bear crossing the path. I
totally had to pick him up...he's so fuzzy!!

Moth season appears to have fluttered down to a quiet end after all the
wonky weather. This little—and I do mean little!—critter might well be the
last one I get to photograph this year. For the record, the pink blob is
the tip of my ring-size-2.5 pinkie finger…the moth is about 4 mm long.

Some sort of long winged fly on our window screen. I like the tree
reflection in the background.

Check this little guy out. I had no clue what it was so I looked it up - I
believe it is a Western Skink. It said that the juveniles are the only
ones with the bright blue tail, the color fades as they get older. If it
is caught by a predator it can cast off its wiggling tail to attract
attention so that the lizard can escape. Now that would be a great picture!

We’ve had a pretty scanty moth season; even the common critters like this
multi-tone golden beauty have been hard to come by. These moths seem to
especially like my apartment complex for being very nearly the same color,
making for excellent camouflage until one gets cold like this one and lands
on the stairs.
