i made a secret decoder ring at work today! hee! (it's plastic from the
back of monitors to keep them from moving up and down on their stands while
in packaging)

A Zentangle I made for myself for Valentine's Day.

From a design standpoint it's a white-hot mess (ignore the awkward
sun-splotch on the left- it's hiding a major boo-boo) but I am getting
better at making clean lines. I really like doing it, although deciding
which pattern to use in a space is still hard for me.

Time to say farewell to this old friend. This was the first Nordic-style
"stitch-n-cut" sweater I ever made, almost 20 years ago. I used cheap yarn
in case I messed it up, and now it's falling apart. Also, it's HUGE. I'm
going to run it through the washer a few times, see if I can get it to felt,
then make a bag or something out of it.

Zentagle that I worked on while we watched TV. I just noticed one little
area that isn't finished.

Lucas had a doctor's appointment. We spent our waiting time drawing robots
on the paper covering the table.

Making centerpieces for the big surprise!

I have been zentangling like crazy! I tried to make something that looked
like a fish in this one, although I later realized it is missing the fin on
the back. Oh well.

Finally got a hat and beard crocheted up. I have been wanting to make this
for a year now. The beard buttons on and off so you can wear the beard when
your face is cold ;)

It is a secret, I can't tell anyone what these are for!!

You'll know more soon!!

One of the photos Zoe used on her science project board. These are magnets
that are strong enough to support their own weight. They're also strong
enough to pinch your finger when they snap together if one is not careful.

Stayed home sick today, so I decided to start a pair of socks. Just turned
the heel. I think this is the first heel I've turned in over five years, at
least.

Now that I'm knitting again you're going to see a lot of these pix. I just
finished this stole/shawl/throw thingy I started in 2007 for my BFF. The
yarn is all handspun wool from my other friend.

Friends are moving to a new apartment in the same complex due to drama with
their downstairs neighbors. I painted them this Dia de los family portrait
as a housewarming gift. :)

Finally finished the Sweater from Hell! I started this probably close to 10
years ago. The pattern is actually quite nice but I had to make it much more
complicated by recalculating it for a larger gauge AND using two different
dye lots of yarn (didn't have enough of either). The shoulder strap was
murder -- if anyone has ever tried knitting intarsia in the round, you know
exactly what I mean.

This is fresh off the needles. Still have to wash and block it. Will I ever
wear it? Who knows? Who cares? At least it's done!

One of my best friends, Laura, is a Super Senior (so she could get he honors
thesis written) and I've been promising to make her a Super Senior superhero
cape. On my last day home, I finally made it. And I'm kind of jealous of her
at the moment too.

It took 10 hours, but I started and finished assembling the quilt today for
Eddie's frat brother's 21st birthday present! So glad I only had to do the
labor and didn't have to pay for it too.

Cheat: A rather un-dramatic recreation of how Jack & I celebrated New Year's
Eve. This is the mini-firepit I built out of stuff I had laying around. It
was really cold (and dark) but we had a heluva lot of fun, including
s'mores.

BTW, s'mores don't work as well when it's below freezing -- the chocolate is
too cold. Oh well.

another photoshopped wave picture. my co-workers son saw me "surfing" and
