A cold morning turned up this dead leaf, which was actually frozen to the
sidewalk by its underside, and a scrawl of ice that kind of vaguely looks
like some sort of fossilized plant bits. I can’t help being reminded of a
tourist at a museum, marveling that some ancient bones or other could have
ever been related to us…

Interesting. You find the most interesting stuff to photograph.
My sweetie calls it my "magpie eye", attracted to anything shiny and/or moving. Ice is shiny most days, and this shot was taken on the sidewalk about eight feet from the bottom of our front steps :). When locals attempt to commiserate with me about terrible conditions, I just smile and comment about "worlds of tiny wonder everywhere!"
