We get these odd clouds quite a bit in winter. I think they might be
lenticular clouds but no aspect of meteorology is my science-y strong point…

I always call them lens clouds but I don't really have a clue. :)

Turns out they are lenticular clouds, according to the fella from NASA who answered my email about possibly contributing to Earth Sciences Photo of the Day at some point. I thought they only happened over mountains & mountain ranges, but I see 'em out in the valley all the time so I prolly got that idea from mostly seeing them on Mt. Rainier.
